ArtBridges/ToileDesArts: Guiding Principles, Policies & Terms of Use

These guiding principles, policies and terms of use apply to all who contribute to and access the ArtBridges/ToileDesArts website and social media.

The ArtBridges community consists of diverse communities of all sizes and geographic locations across Canada – every person, organization, initiative or community interested in, involved with or committed to community-engaged arts and arts for social change.

How we can communicate: Communication between you/ your community arts initiative and ArtBridges can be through e-mailing, phoning (on our toll-free line), commenting on the blog, posting on ArtBridges social media, or through on-site meetings and visits.

Process for decision-making: ArtBridges has staff and a new Board of Directors, through which decisions are made. ArtBridges welcomes any suggestions and feedback from community partners, to make the project the best it can be, and to make it work.

What we ask of you!

  • Let us know when your information has changed
  • Let us know if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions
  • Let us know if you’d like us to withdraw any of your information
  • Professional, supportive and positive interaction
  • Flexibility and patience during our period of growth and development

ArtBridges’ Policies:

  1. ArtBridges will not profit from the use of any images or material shared by your group with ArtBridges. Images/material will be used for promotion and outreach only on the ArtBridges’ website/blog/social networks, and not be used for sale.
  2. ArtBridges reserves the right to approve or refuse any content submitted to the ArtBridges/ToileDesArts website and social media.
  3. Once we know of a correction or edit that needs to be made on posted material, ArtBridges will make edits as soon as possible.
  4. ArtBridges takes no responsibility for the content of websites that are hyper-linked.
  5. Any information provided on the ArtBridges website is of a general nature and cannot substitute for the advice of a licensed professional (i.e. lawyer, doctor, accountant, etc.)
  6. ArtBridges will not post (on-line) or print the images/material of your community arts initiative that you have provided to ArtBridges without your authorized permission.
  7. If you are open to sharing any of your community arts initiative’s tried, tested and true materials/resources with other community arts groups (so that they can use them as templates for creating their own material, i.e. policy manuals, rules and procedures, orientation packages, program descriptions, brochures, conflict management procedures, constitutions, documentary and evaluation materials etc.) ArtBridges will get your permission before sharing the material /resource so that your group can get credit and acknowledgement for the authorship.
    Note: If you do receive material/resources developed by another group, with their permission, we strongly suggest that you “make it your own”; i.e. we recommend that you access a lawyer, your Board or Advisory Board to check your material and make sure it’s right for your organization. Note: ArtBridges’ philosophy is that it is important to maintain the uniqueness and originality of each community arts initiative.
  8. Should there be disagreements between ArtBridges and your community arts initiative that cannot be resolved by consensus, it is our policy to bring the conflict to our management staff or Board of Directors for advice. In an extreme case, we will mediate the dispute and will ask for your cooperation in the process.

Terms of Use:

You agree that if you see any information posted on ArtBridges that is unclear, and needs more work to better represent your community arts initiative you will let ArtBridges know as soon as possible. (We rely on you to advise on any inaccuracies).

You agree that your community arts initiative will assume responsibility and liability for the accuracy of the information and content that it gives ArtBridges access to post.

You agree that your community arts initiative will not upload copyrighted or other proprietary material of any kind on ArtBridges’ social network without the express permission of the owner of that material.

You agree that if you provide ArtBridges with images, videos, media or artwork that features or includes participants of your community arts initiative, or their art, you have received participants’ (or their guardian’s) permission (i.e.: through a model release form) for the purpose of outreach and promotion of your community arts initiative.

You agree that ArtBridges can use the images, photos, videos, media, material or artwork that features or includes participants (-or their art) of your community arts initiative in the ArtBridges web/blog/network to promote your community arts initiative, only if you give authorized permission.

You agree that your community arts initiative will comply with ArtBridges’ community standards by using respectful and appropriate language to maintain the safety and enjoyment of the site for all.

You agree that should there be a conflict between ArtBridges and your community arts initiative that cannot be resolved by consensus, you will get support from your management staff or Board, (as ArtBridges will.) In an extreme case, ArtBridges will ask for mediation of the dispute and will ask for your cooperation in the process.

You agree that your community arts initiative will communicate with ArtBridges in a way that:

Does not use vulgar, profane, abusive or hateful language, epithets or slurs, text or illustrations in poor taste, inflammatory attacks of a personal, racial or religious nature, or expressions of bigotry, racism, discrimination. or hate.
Does not use defamatory, threatening, disparaging, grossly inflammatory, false, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, inaccurate, unfair, contains gross exaggeration or unsubstantiated claims, violates the privacy right of any third party, is unreasonably harmful or offensive to any individual or community, contains any actionable statement, or tends to mislead or reflect unfairly on any other person, business or entity.
Does not discriminate on the grounds of race, religion, national origin, gender, age, marital status, sexual orientation, physical and/or mental ability, physical and/or mental health, socio-economic background, or refers to such matters in any manner prohibited by law.
Does not violate any municipal, provincial or federal law, rule, regulation or ordinance, or attempts to encourage such an evasion or violation.
Does not use images, photos, or articles or other content that constitutes, promotes, or encourages illegal acts, violation of any right of any individual or entity, violation of any local, provincial, national or international law, rule, guideline, or regulation, or otherwise creates liability.
Does not include uploading or transmitting of viruses or other harmful, disruptive or destructive files.
Does not disrupt, interfere with, or otherwise harm or violate the security of artbridges.ca or any services, system resources, accounts, passwords, servers or networks connected to or accessible through artbridgs.ca or affiliated or linked sites.
Does not “flame” any individual or entity (i.e.: sends repeated messages related to another user and/or makes derogatory or offensive comments about another individual), or repeats prior posting of the same message under multiple threads or subjects.
Does not use e-mails to send unsolicited SPAM e-mails directly or indirectly by providing the e-mail addresses to a third party.

Termination:

Community partnerships may be terminated by ArtBridges at any time for any of the following reasons which shall include but not be limited to:

  • falsifying personal or other records, such as any omission or misrepresentation of fact
  • abuse, mistreatment or harassment
  • non-compliance with ArtBridges’ policies, terms of use or guidelines
  • violation of ArtBridges’ mission and principals.
